Tabs

What each tab does

tab 1

Audit

The main screen. It opens with the result already there: the page SEO score with a verdict in words, the list of detected issues with a “start here” badge, meta tags (Title, Description, H1), indexing (canonical, meta robots, X-Robots-Tag, robots.txt, sitemap), lang/hreflang, HTTP status and Core Web Vitals.

Good to know: Selecting any value copies it. The copy button in a block header copies the whole block at once. Title, Description and H1 issues offer “Get variants in AI”, which switches to the AI tab and generates ready-to-use options.

tab 2

AI

A workspace for improving the page. The AI writes from the content of the open page: Title, Description and H1 variants of the right length (with a diagnosis of the current value and the angle of each variant), a direct-answer paragraph for the top of the page, an FAQ block of three questions and a full action plan of 5–8 items explaining why each change matters. The PDF report opens from here too.

Good to know: Any generation can be cancelled by pressing the button again. “More variants” adds a new set of three to the ones you already have, so you can build a shortlist. Results are cached: reopening the popup on the same page does not spend new requests.

tab 3

GEO

How ready the page is for AI search, scored 0–100. The extension checks AI crawler access (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, YandexBot and others), llms.txt, structured data, the presence of a direct answer and an FAQ, and how the content is structured.

Good to know: This is the extension’s own scale — it does not match the scores of other services because it checks a different set of factors. “Check again” recalculates with fresh data.

tab 4

SERP

Quick checks of the page and the site in Google and Yandex: find the current URL in the index, list pages of the domain, find duplicate paths (site: plus inurl: in Google, url: in Yandex), all URLs of a host (host:, Yandex only), duplicate titles (intitle: / title:), plus utilities for copying URLs from search results and finding an organization on maps.

Good to know: The hint under each card names the operator used for that search. Google operators have become imprecise in recent years — treat them as a quick estimate, not a complete list.

tab 5

On-page

Tools that work on the page itself: highlighting the H1–H6 heading structure with a table of contents, highlighting image alt text (a red outline means no alt, yellow means empty, green means filled in), highlighting nofollow/noindex and external links, and disabling JavaScript and CSS. Below are external checks: recrawl in Yandex Webmaster, server response and PageSpeed.

Good to know: Disabling JavaScript shows the page the way some search crawlers see it — the “broken” view is the result of the check. If you forget to turn JS or CSS back on, the extension offers to restore everything with one click the next time you open it.

tab 6

Links

Every link on the page with a summary: total, internal, external, problematic. An instant diagnosis without network requests covers HTTP links, internal nofollow links, internal UTM tags, empty anchors and duplicates. “Check links” finds broken ones (4xx, 5xx and unreachable URLs) and lists redirects with their final destination. Filters by type, protocol, rel attribute and HTTP status, plus search, on-page highlighting and TSV export.

Good to know: The check runs sequentially and stops when you close the popup. Filters appear once links have been found on the page.

tab 7

Images

Images on the page: a summary of alt text (missing, empty, filled in), images without declared dimensions (a layout-shift risk), overly long alt text and duplicates. The weight check finds images heavier than 300 KB. A filter by alt state is available.

Good to know: Weight is measured with real requests to the images, so it takes time on large pages.

tab 8

Schema

Structured data on the page: JSON-LD (types and parsing errors), Open Graph, Twitter Cards and microformats, with quick links to the Google Rich Results and Schema.org validators.

Good to know: Schema subtypes are counted correctly: MedicalBusiness counts as an Organization, and BlogPosting counts as an Article.

tab 9

Tools

Quick links to external tools grouped by job: domain and hosting (Web Archive, SSL, WHOIS, CMS), content and trust (uniqueness, CheckTrust) and validators (HTML, CSS, spelling). At the bottom are the analytics trackers detected on the page.

Good to know: Each card is clickable as a whole and opens the service with the current page address already filled in.

Settings

The gear: theme, ad highlighting and announcements

The gear sits to the right of the tabs. Changes are saved immediately and apply to search pages that are already open. Reload a tab only if it still shows an older style right after the extension updates.

Extension theme

System, light or dark. The system option follows your operating system and switches with it. The theme of the extension window does not control how highlighting looks on the search page itself.

Highlight paid ads

The extension adds color to paid ads in search results so you can tell them apart from organic listings. Highlighting is on by default, runs locally in your browser and does not send your search queries to our server. Ads are not blocked and the order of results does not change. Turn it off with the “Highlight paid search ads” switch.

Color and style

Four colors — amber, blue, violet and green. Three styles — an outline with a background, an outline only or a background only. Corners can stay square or be rounded by 8 or 16 pixels. Two previews show your choice on a light and a dark background, and shades on the search page adapt to that page’s theme.

What’s new

A release announcement appears once after the extension updates and links to the release notes. You can open it again from Settings under “What’s new”.

Coverage and privacy

A result is highlighted when a combination of advertising signals is found in the search page markup: text ads and sponsored product and service cards inside regular web search. Highlighting updates as results and carousel items load. New or unverified formats may remain unhighlighted, so an absence of color does not prove that a result is organic. Dedicated Images, Maps, Shopping and AI search modes are outside the stated coverage.

How the SEO score is calculated

100 points minus 30 for every critical issue and minus 5 for every warning. Next to the number is a verdict in words: 90+ is “excellent”, 70–89 is “good, room to improve”, 50–69 is “needs attention” and below 50 is “many critical issues”.

Critical issues are the ones that genuinely keep a page out of search, such as a missing Title or indexing being disallowed. Warnings are worth fixing but are not fatal: a long Title, a short Description, images without alt text. The score comes from automated checks of the current page and does not replace a full site audit.

The GEO score: readiness for AI search

The 0–100 scale shows how ready a page is to be cited by AI systems: whether AI crawlers have access, whether llms.txt, structured data, a direct answer and an FAQ are present, and how well the content is structured. This is the PrivateSEO methodology — it does not match the scores of other services because it checks a different set of factors.

Help

AI features and your data

When you press an AI button, the content of the open page — headings and text — is sent to the PrivateSEO server. The model writes ready-to-use wording from it: meta tag variants, a direct answer, an FAQ or an action plan. The data is used only to generate that answer. An anonymous installation identifier (a random number with no personal data) is sent with the request and is used for feature usage statistics.

The AI can be wrong: review the text before publishing it. For local and intranet addresses the extension asks for separate confirmation before sending anything. Ad highlighting is unrelated to the AI features and runs entirely in the browser.
